Explain?
We’re all influenced by algorithms. There’s one that shows you who to follow on Twitter. There’s one that tells Facebook which multilevel marketing schemes to show you. There’s one that suggests dirty videos for you, even though you’d never ever watch them.
Books are no different. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Goodreads, and all the other sites you use to find books use algorithms to recommend them to you. They figure out your taste based on other books you enjoyed, but they also elevate books with more reviews. *wink* *wink*
ARCs are free books given out in advance of a book’s release to people who are likely to be fans, in hopes of generating positive feedback. You’re on this website, so that fan might be you.
